Bio
"I started writing because for all my life I’ve had the dream of publishing at least one book. I added that dream to my bucket list and began drafting different story ideas that lived in my head. Every time I read what I wrote, I felt this overwhelming fear of ever letting anyone else see my work. So I shelved some projects and stopped writing for a few years.
In my early twenties, I had a friend who published his first book. That neglected dream of a published book, once again, clawed its way into the front of my mind. With some guided help I was able to publish my first novel - I’m Fine. This story touched on my love for psychology and my passion for teaching. I wanted to intertwine the two topics in a story that was realistic, yet terrifying for today’s youth. In tragic events like these, I felt like the media left out critical aspects of people’s emotions before, during and after such an event. I wanted to get into each character’s minds and break these scenarios down for readers to portray how something like this could unfold and the repercussions that followed.
Digging deep into psychology for my first book was the catalyst for my second book, Mindscape. When I wrote Mindscape, I was in a deep depression. The boxes that are mentioned in the book are related to my personal traumatic experiences that I endured from childhood to adulthood. The crazy thing is I had no idea that while I was writing this fictional world, I was actively healing myself from the inside out. After publishing Mindscape and taking a step back from the transformation that happened during that time period, I realized the depth of my passion for mental healing as well as the platform that I had now as being a published author.
Since then, I've written a collection of six more works (a trilogy, a professionally illustrated poem book, a contemporary Christian novel, and a collaboration with another author) These novels became more than just stories for me, they were portals into my soul and ways to express the reality of the world we all live in today. The importance of breaking down your own walls, learning to love yourself, finding your inner child, and so much more are all elements that can be found in my novels.
I started writing because I thought it was simply a fun hobby, but little did I know that writing would sprout into a full on adventure that has taken me on a ride I never saw coming. Once I opened up my mind to these fictional worlds, I fell in love with the craft and unlimited possibilities writing allows. My ultimate desire is to design stories that not only help the reader escape reality but also, hopefully, give them something to take away from the book and apply it into their life."
