This morning, Hope and her cousin, Sonya, were just two women in their twenties coming home from a camping trip in the Oregon hills. This afternoon, they stumbled straight into the occupation of their hometown.

Faced with the impossible, Hope tightens her bootlaces and runs for the hills with a few people reckless enough to rebel against an illegal rule, waiting for their government to save them.

Except they aren’t saved, because there is no US government. Not here. Not anymore.

With their backs to the wall, this small group of survivors goes hunting for their missing friends and family—accidentally sparking an uprising they can’t, and won’t, walk away from.
